Federal Computer Week, in partnership with Adobe, invites you to an executive breakfast “Unified Cross-Agency Collaboration – How to craft your agency’s Open Government Plan,” to be held March 18, 2010 at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. This educational breakfast will bring together senior government officials and technology and open government leaders to discuss how the Open Government Directive is transforming the next-generation of collaborative government.

Attend this FREE half-day seminar and you will learn:

  • How to craft an Open Government Plan using a unified cross-agency collaboration experience resulting in better consolidated agency processes and improved public mission
  • How to identify and eliminate business process roadblocks such as privacy, security, authentication and information quality
  • What ubiquitous technologies are available in the commercial sector that government can leverage to enable better information sharing and citizen engagement
  • How interagency working-groups can use collaborative technologies to not only share, but create meaningful content
  • How agencies can reach across internal agency networks through a common platform to find innovative solutions
  • How to address culture and change management including restructuring workflow, handling resistance to change and creating a collaborative environment both internally, externally and across multiple agencies
  • Best practices and case studies on how some agencies are interacting with the public without sacrificing security or violating privacy restrictions
  • How to foster a two-way open dialogue by constructing a consistent, single, entry interface between citizens, businesses, and government agencies

With the release of almost 300 “high-value” data sets on Data.gov January 22, 2010, agencies made the first deliveries on the Administration’s Open Government Directive. In the months ahead, agencies must address individual privacy rights, verify security and authentication, improve data quality and present it more clearly and concisely to the public. This next step requires agencies to launch a public-facing webpage in order to invite a “two way” dialogue and engage citizen participation.

As the Open Government Directive moves towards its third and final deadline, many agencies are beginning to reexamine and re-think their collaboration efforts – not only with other agencies, but with the public. The key to successful collaboration and open government is to leverage the knowledge and innovation of internal and external stakeholders, from policy, legal, and technology leaders to open government experts and citizens, through a secure environment. Part of that effort will involve upgrading the technology used to create a single, unified collaboration experience.
