Innocent Lau
Group Manager, Information and Technology Services, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Department of Agriculture

Mr. Lau is the Branch Chief of Application Operations Branch within OCIO-ITS-IOD organization. He oversees the operation and support of all Infrastructure Systems, Web and Enterprise applications hosted within Federal Enterprise data centers at NITC facility. Mr. Lau is responsible and accountable for 128 resources and their delivery of hosting services for the 47,000 customer base, and manages $28 million yearly operational budget.

Mr. Lau spent over 10 years with USDA overseeing enterprise data center hosting more than 3000 servers. Notable accomplishments included email consolidation, 145 web application migration into new data center, organization realignment through insourcing of contracting resources to reduce labor cost, and implemented ITIL service operational model to streamline hosting operation processes.

Mr. Lau came from a consulting background where he worked as senior consultant and program manager for corporations such as Lucent and Unisys where he helped to implement Microsoft solutions for various large corporations such as Eli-Lilly, and Maritz. Since working at USDA OCIO-ITS organization in 2001, he has been credited for consolidating 2700 despaired email systems throughout United States into 3 data center locations. He introduced collaboration for USDA Service Center Agencies utilizing MS SharePoint technology with 2 factor authentication allowing collaboration between agencies and outside entities such as universities and research facilities. His most current accomplishment is the implementation of enterprise mobility management solution for the department.

Mr. Lau received his undergraduate degree in Electronics Management emphasis in Micro-Computer from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and a Master degree of art in Computer Resource and Management from Webster University. Mr. Lau is certified in ITIL v3 foundation, project management, and chair of the board of directors for USDA facility in Saint Louis.

He is married to SeeSee and has two sons. He is an avid golfer and enjoy coaching 3rd grade basketball boy team at local CYC community.
