Anne Armstrong, President, 1105 Government Information Group

Ms. Armstrong has more than 25 years of experience in technology journalism and publishing. She spent a number of years editing IT publications, including the primary publication of the American Society for Information Science. She founded Langley Publications in 1984 to cover storage technologies. Ms. Armstrong was on the launch team for FCW in 1987 and became editor in 1992, a position she held until 1999 when she became president of Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology. CIT is a non-profit created by Virginia to spur the growth of technology businesses in the commonwealth. She returned to FCW in September 2002 as publisher and business unit leader.

 

Michael Capellas, CEO, ACADIA; Chairman of the Board,
Virtual Computing Environment coalition

Michael D. Capellas is the Chief Executive Officer of Acadia. Acadia is a joint venture of Cisco and EMC with investments from VMware and Intel. Acadia helps organizations leverage best-in-class technologies and disciplines from Cisco, EMC, and VMware, to accelerate adoption of virtualized private cloud infrastructures. He also is Chairman of the Board for the Virtual Computing Environment coalition.

Prior to joining Acadia in 2010, Capellas was the Chairman and CEO of First Data Corp. A 30-year veteran of the IT industry, Capellas is a recognized global thought leader in the technology space. In addition to his work with First Data, Capellas served as CEO for Compaq Computer Corporation and MCI.

He began his career with Schlumberger Limited and went on to hold senior management positions at Schlumberger, Oracle Corporation and SAP Americas. He joined Compaq in 1998 as chief information officer and was named chairman and CEO in July 1999. After the merger with HP, Capellas served as president of HP. In 2002, he accepted the challenge of leading MCI (then WorldCom) through the largest corporate reorganization in history. For three years, Capellas served as MCI's president and CEO and oversaw the successful rebuilding of the company. Turnaround completed, Verizon Communications ultimately acquired MCI in 2006. Following MCI, he was a senior advisor to Silver Lake Partners, an investment firm that focuses on large-scale investments in technology and related industries.

Capellas serves on the board of directors of Cisco Systems Inc. and the national board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Kent State University.

 

Greg Clifton, Director - DoD & Intelligence, Intel

Greg Clifton is Intel's Director of Business Development for the US DOD & Intelligence Communities. He has held this role for the past 8 years supporting the government. Greg provides first hand assistance in the development and deployment of cost-effective mission critical solutions built around the Intel architecture. Prior to Intel, Greg spent over five years in the web hosting services world, which was the precursor to today's cloud computing services model.

 

Sid Nag, Global Enterprise Architect, Cisco

Sid is currently a Global Enterprise Architect at Cisco Systems. Sid is responsible for driving business transformation and technology architecture for Cisco's Federal/Global Accounts.In his current role Sid is focused on Borderless Networks, Cloud Computing, Core Routing & Switching. Prior to Cisco, Sid was VP of Business Development & advisor to the CEO at Amedia Networks. Amedia Networks was a public company in the consumer-internet/gateway space.

 

Patrick T. Stingley, CTO, Bureau of Land Management

Patrick Stingley began working in Cloud Computing during the summer of 2008, when he was working for the ITI Line of Business as part of a detail with OMB. He has written a number of papers including "Acquisition of Cloud Computing Services", "Cloud Computing for Federal Agencies" and prepared a development plan for a federal cloud computing capability. He is a certified Enterprise Architect, has a Masters in Information Systems Technology, a PMP, CCNP, and a CISSP. Before returning to the government, he built Internet, Intranet and extranet systems in private industry. Stingley has personally built cloud environments including network attached storage (NAS) systems and scalable virtual server farms using commodity hardware with multiple virtualization systems and virtual hosts.

 

Bob Wambach, Senior Director, EMC

Bob Wambach leads Virtual Computing Environment Coalition marketing. Bob is responsible for planning, alignment and execution of Virtual Computing Environment Coalition marketing and sales enablement activities throughout the world, working cross-functionally within EMC and in collaboration with Cisco and VMware. Bob previously led marketing for EMC’s high-end storage and storage virtualization product offerings including EMC’s flagship Symmetrix storage platform. Bob also led pricing and business strategy planning for EMC’s storage division. Prior to joining EMC in 2003, Bob held several executive marketing and engineering roles in the computer, networking and telecommunications industries. Bob holds several U.S. patents for contributions in the computer and communications fields, and holds a B.S.E.E. from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 

Mike Wilkerson, Director of Federal Solutions Engineering

Mike Wilkerson, Director of VMware’s Federal Solutions Engineering organization, has over 17 years of experience working with Federal organizations and providing subject matter expertise around the unique technical issues they face. In his role at VMware, he leads a large technical team in delivering the right solutions to Civilian, Intelligence, Defense and Federal Systems Integrator customers. He is also VMware Federal’s key technical liaison to VMware Product Management and Engineering, helping to ensure that key Federal requirements around security and accessibility are built into the applications.
