Molly O'Neil

Vice President, CGI Federal, and Former, Chief Information Officer, Environmental Protection Agency

Molly A. O’Neill is currently a Vice President at CGI Federal and a Fellow at CGI’s Initiative for Collaborative Government. Beyond her roles at CGI, Ms. O’Neill works on cross government technology initiatives as an elected Fellow at the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) and as a Strategic Advisor for Government Executives (SAGE) with the Partnership for Public Service.

Previously, Ms. O’Neill was a appointed by President Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be the Assistant Administrator and Chief Information Officer of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). She championed innovation around transparency of data, data sharing and collaboration. She served as an Executive Committee member of the Federal CIO Council, where she was the Co-Chair of the Architecture and Infrastructure Committee and the Co-Chair of the Infrastructure Line of Business for the federal government. In recognition of her leadership in the federal government, Ms. O’Neill received many awards including the 2008 Government Computer News Government IT Executive of the Year Award and the prestigious 2009 Federal Computer Week Federal 100 Eagle award.

Prior to her appointment at the U.S. EPA, she served as the Director at the National Environmental Information Exchange Network. In this capacity she established a robust data sharing network between the federal government and 50 state environmental departments. She also has 14 years of private sector work as a management and information technology consultant. Ms. O’Neill is a frequent speaker at both environmental and technology venues. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech.
