Michael Levin is the Director of Security Design & Innovation (SDI) within The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). SDI is a unique portion of the HHS Office of information Security (OIS) that is focused on solving complex security problems facing the federated HHS enterprise. As the Director of SDI, Michael uses his background as a forensic analyst, consultant, attorney and entrepreneur to lead a diverse team of security architects & SME’s as they tackle common problems across the enterprise. Michael is a DC and Illinois licensed attorney with a background in information security law. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Law of Data Security & Investigations (GLEG), GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC) and EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE). Prior to joining HHS, Michael was a consultant with Deloitte & Touché, with a cliental specialization of incident response within the Federal space. Earlier in his career, Michael was an Investigative Attorney with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. He has previously conducted investigations on matters ranging from IP theft to child pornography, and public corruption. Michael is originally from Chicago and currently resides with his family in Washington, DC.
